Winter Fuel Payments

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (1) how many pensioners aged 60 and over have claimed the winter fuel payment in (a) Jarrow constituency, (b) South Tyneside, (c) the north-east and (d) the UK in each year since its inception; (186667)

(2) how many pensioners aged 80 and over have claimed the higher rate winter fuel payment in (a) Jarrow constituency, (b) South Tyneside, (c) the north-east and (d) the UK in each year since its inception.

Information relating to winter fuel payments for the winters of 1997-98 and 1998-99 is not available. The information from winter 1999-2000 is in the following tables. Information regarding Northern Ireland is a matter for the Northern Ireland Office.
