Migration Advisory Committee

Volume 472: debated on Monday 3 March 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how often the Migration Advisory Committee has met; who attended the meetings; what advice it has provided on cohesion and integration issues; and if she will make a statement. (190118)

The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has met on three occasions, on 7 December 2007, 25 January and 15 February 2008. Minutes of MAC meetings, including details of those attending and all relevant papers, are publicly available at:

www.biahomeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

The MAC was established to provide independent and evidence-based advice to Government on specific sectors and occupations in the labour market where shortages exist which can sensibly be filled by migration.

The Government may, from time to time, ask the MAC to advise on other matters relating to migration.
