Mentally Ill: Medical Records

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what consideration has been given to independent mental health advocates being given access to electronic patient records; and if he will make a statement. (189263)

The Mental Health Act 1983, as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007, provides that independent mental health advocates may, where the patient consents, require the production and inspection of any records related to the patient’s detention, treatment or aftercare. This includes electronic patient records.
