To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department pursuant to the answer of 28 January 2008, Official Report, column 98W, on entry clearances, what estimate her Department has made of the number of foreign nationals resident in the UK who the Government are permitted to require to possess a biometric information document under the UK Borders Act 2007; what estimate her Department has made of the percentage such individuals constitute of the total number of foreign nationals resident in the United Kingdom; and what estimate her Department has made of the number of biometric information documents the Government plans to issue to such nationals by (a) January 2009, (b) January 2010 and (c) January 2011; and if she will make a statement.
