To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many cars were sold in 2007 with tailpipe carbon emissions below 110g/km in the (a) UK and (b) EU. (186954)

Statistics regarding vehicles newly registered in 2007 are not yet available.

However, the number of cars newly registered in Great Britain in 2006 were as follows:

Number where CO2 emissions less than 110 g/km

Of which:

Number where CO2 emissions greater than or equal to 110 g/km

Of which:

Number where CO2 emissions not available

These data include all cars that have been newly registered in 2006 and will, therefore, include vehicles that have been imported into Great Britain during this time.
