To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if she will make a statement on the inquiry into an additional access road for Canvey Island; and what the (a) timetable and (b) cost of the inquiry is expected to be. (191160)

The question of an additional access road to Canvey Island is a matter for Essex county council as local highway authority. I understand that at present they have no proposals which are at or approaching the stage of a public inquiry.
