The civil service statistics are collected by the Office for National Statistics from the Annual Civil Service Employment Survey (formerly Mandate) and the latest published figures are for 30 September 2006.

On the 30 September 2006, the Department for Work and Pensions employed a total of (a) 160 staff and (b) 150 full-time equivalent staff under the age of 18-years-old.
