Volume 473: debated on Monday 17 March 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport pursuant to the answer of 6 March 2008, Official Report, column 2758W, on intercity express: consultants, how much of the £7.9 million spent by her Department on the project was incurred directly as a result of the Department taking the lead in developing the specification. (194570)

[holding answer 14 March 2008]: The majority of these costs arise directly as a result of the Department leading the specification and procurement of the Intercity Express Programme (IEP) since 2005, and in working closely with industry to make sure that the Intercity Express Programme offers best value for money and benefits to passengers and taxpayers when compared to other options.
