Arrests

Volume 473: debated on Monday 17 March 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many arrests were made in London by the Metropolitan police in each of the last 10 years. (189307)

The arrests collection undertaken by the Ministry of Justice provides data on persons arrested for recorded crime (notifiable offences) only. The number of arrests made by the Metropolitan police is given in the table from 1999-2000 (previous years data are unreliable) to 2005-06 (latest available). From aggregated data collected centrally we are not able to identify the location of an arrest.

Note:

Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from large administrative data systems generated by the police forces. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when these data are used.
