To ask the Secretary of State for Health what progress is being made in increasing the numbers of dermatologists working in the NHS. (197811)

There were 444 dermatologists identified in the NHS work force census on 30 September 2007, that is an increase of 158 (17 per cent.) from 1997. The work force census on 30 September 2007 also showed that there were 250 doctors training in the dermatology speciality, this is an increase of 73 (41.2 per cent.) from 1997.
