Volume 474: debated on Thursday 3 April 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the take-up of influenza vaccinations by pensioners over 65 years old in (a) Houghton and Washington East constituency, (b) Tyne and Wear and (c) England in the last year for which figures are available. (197267)

Influenza vaccine uptake is reported to the Department by primary care trusts (PCT) and strategic health authorities (SHAs) and is based on the number of patients registered at reporting general practitioners practices who were vaccinated between 1 September 2007 and 31 January 2008. Data are not collected by constituency.

Influenza vaccine uptake for those 65 years and over was 77 per cent. for Sunderland Teaching PCT and 74 per cent. overall in England.
