Terrorism: Prosecutions

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been (a) prosecuted and (b) convicted of the offence of acts preparatory to terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2006. (164064)

[holding answer 13 November 2007]: The Terrorism Act 2006 came into force in April of that year. Statistics compiled from police records show that, to date, seven individuals have been prosecuted for acts preparatory to terrorism under this legislation and of these, five individuals have been convicted.
