Prisoners: Pay

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what factors he took into account when deciding to postpone the change to the rates of payment to prisoners. (204673)

In determining the timing of any increase in prisoners’ pay, Ministers considered that it should be more closely tied to developing work on an offender compact. Postponement of an increase in minimum rates from the original planned date has allowed this to be done more effectively.
