Sea Rescue: Pay

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what the average salary of coastguards in (a) Cornwall, (b) the South West and (c) England was in each year since 1979. (205619)

Information is only available for 2002 onwards.

The average basic wage for the different grades of Coastguards for those who work in (a) Cornwall, (b) the South West and (c) England is in the following tables.

In addition to these salaries, a 25 per cent. coastguard allowance is paid to coastguard watch assistants, watch officers and watch managers, a 15 per cent. coastguard allowance to sector managers and an on call allowance to RCC managers.
