Schools: Cricket

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what recent assessment he has made of the adequacy of support for cricket in state schools. (206926)

The annual School Sport Survey was introduced in 2003-04 and collects data relating to participation in PE and school sport. The latest survey found that 90 per cent. (up from 85 per cent. in 2003-04) of maintained schools in England provided cricket during the academic year. The survey also found that 56 per cent. (up from 45 per cent. in 2003-04) of schools were linked to a local cricket club.
