To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people received treatment for heroin abuse in (a) Cornwall, (b) the South West and (c) England in each year since 1979. (201076)

Only part of the data requested are available. The National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse publish information from the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) on the numbers of people in structured drug treatment.

As shown in the following table NDTMS figures for the numbers of people in structured drug treatment for heroin misuse, in each drug action team partnership area and by region were only published for one year, 2003-04 and since 2004-05 data are only been published at a national level. Data for 2007-08 will be published this summer.
