To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what options she has considered to reduce the waiting time for a Security Industry Authority licence renewal; and what steps she has taken to protect those security industry employees whose jobs are jeopardised by the length of time taken for licence renewal. This is an operational matter for the Security Industry Authority (SIA). They are working to restore performance to acceptable levels as quickly as possible in order to reduce delays and the resulting impact on applicants. I have met with the SIA's chief executive, and receive regular reports from the SIA, in order to ensure that action is being taken to address performance issues.
