Cultural Heritage: Manpower

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many members of staff are employed by each (a) Regional Arts Council, (b) Regional Museums, Libraries and Archives Council and (c) Regional Cultural Consortium. (209403)

[holding answer 6 June 2008]: Figures for the number of staff employed by the bodies in question, as provided by those bodies, are set out as follows. These represent the total number of individuals employed, not the number of full-time equivalents.

The nine MLA regional agencies are independent bodies and employ their own staff, funded by core funding from MLA and other external project funding. The staffing figures have been provided by the regional agencies and are correct as at June 2008. They include both permanent and project staff on short-term contracts and represent a reduction of 30 per cent. from September 2007.
