Motorways: Accidents

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many road accidents involving stationary vehicles on motorway hard shoulders were reported in each year since 2004, broken down by motorway; and how many people were (a) injured and (b) killed in each case. (219554)

The total number of road traffic accidents on motorway hard shoulders that have resulted in personal injury (PIAs) in each year since 2004, are listed in the following table. The statistics include all motorways that are the responsibility of the Highways Agency, with at least one accident.
