Hospitals: Leasehold

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what consideration he has given to extending leasehold enfranchisement to NHS hospitals occupying sites on long leases; and if he will make a statement. (218468)

Where a national health service trust occupies a building for operational purposes under a leasehold interest, it relies on Part 2 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 to acquire continuity of occupation. There are no proposals to seek further protection under these or other statutory provisions.
