Carbon Emissions: Standards

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform what assessment he has made of the UK’s capacity to meet its carbon dioxide emissions reduction targets with the current level of technical expertise available to industry and the public sector; and if he will make a statement. The Government remains committed to meeting its CO2 emissions reduction targets, and is confident that the correct strategies and mechanisms are in place to achieve this, including the UK Climate Change Programme, tighter building regulations and the EU emissions trading scheme.
