Departmental Retirement

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families whether his Department has a standard retirement age; and how many employees have been asked to retire on reaching 65 years of age in each year since 2000. (218216)

The Department was established as part of the machinery of government changes of 28 June 2007. The Department has no mandatory retirement age for staff below the senior civil service and operate the civil service code policy at 65 for the senior civil service. No members of the senior civil service have been asked to retire at 65.
