Radiography: Manpower

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the numbers of radiographers (a) working in and (b) required by the NHS. (221648)

The latest published workforce census showed there were 15,066 qualified therapeutic and diagnostic radiographers working in the national health service in England, an increase of 3,295 (28 per cent.) since September 1997.

Local NHS organisations are best placed to assess the health needs of their local health community and plan the work force they need.
