Voluntary Sector

Volume 480: debated on Wednesday 8 October 2008

13. To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what plans he has to improve the operation and delivery of public services provided by the voluntary sector; and if he will make a statement. (224369)

Public funding to the third sector to deliver services has more than doubled from £5 billion to £11 billion since 1997. The Government set out their plan to improve public service delivery, in 2006, and we are making good progress on these commitments. This includes, providing training for public sector commissioners; supporting innovation through the Innovation Exchange; investing in capital development through Futurebuilders; and improving the sustainability of the sector by making three year funding the norm rather than the exception.
