Grammar Schools

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what (a) legislative changes and (b) departmental approval would be needed to open a new grammar school; and if he will make a statement. (224666)

The law prohibits the introduction of any new selection by ability. We intend no change to this. Local parents can decide whether each existing grammar school continues, and ballot accordingly.
