Human Trafficking

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made towards meeting the Government’s deadline to ratify the Council of Europe Convention on Human Trafficking by the end of 2008. (228409)

Good progress has been made. We are on track to ratify the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Human Trafficking (“the Convention”) by the end of the year. We have made the necessary legislative changes and a Command Paper and supporting documents were laid before Parliament on 7 October setting out the Government’s plan.
