To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government whether county council elections will take place in (a) Suffolk and (b) Ipswich in 2009. (229718)

The statutory framework for local elections established by the Local Government Act 1972 and the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, provides that in 2009 there will be elections to Suffolk county council and no elections to Ipswich borough council.
