Alcoholic Drinks: Misuse

Volume 481: debated on Monday 27 October 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether responsibility messages, unit labelling and other such information should be on the bottle or can or on the disposable outer packaging in which bottles and cans are packaged under the terms of the voluntary alcohol labelling agreement. (228138)

The voluntary alcohol labelling agreement, to include unit content, daily guidelines, and other information on most alcohol labels by the end of 2008, applies as a primary requirement to labels on the bottle or can, since consumers should receive a reminder of the information more often and closer to the point of consumption.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many individuals have made more than one submission to his Department's consultation on the alcohol strategy. (229708)

Although the consultation period, 22 July to 14 October 2008, has ended, we are logging and analysing responses. Therefore, it is not possible to answer the question at this stage. However, we are not aware of individuals sending multiple responses to the consultation.
