To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many people aged over (a) 55 and (b) 60 years were recruited by his Department in 2007-08; and what percentage in each case this was of the number of new recruits. (228750)

690 people aged 55 and over were recruited by the Ministry of Justice in 2007-08. This represents 7 per cent. of all new recruits in 2007-08. 262 people aged 60 and over were recruited by the Ministry of Justice in 2007-08. This represents 3 per cent. of all new recruits in 2007-08.
