Welfare Tax Credits

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer pursuant to the answer of 17 October 2008, Official Report, columns 1593-94W, on social security benefits, how many people applied for either working tax credit or child tax credit in each month since January 2006. (229705)

The number of new claims for working tax credit or child tax credit received from households in each month since January 2006 is given in the following table. It is not possible to say how many people are included in each claim except at disproportionate cost.
