Climate Change

Volume 481: debated on Tuesday 28 October 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what progress has been made on the commitments undertaken at the meetings of the Major Economies Process on Energy Security and Climate Change in Washington, USA and Honolulu, Hawaii; and if he will make a statement. (225357)

The meetings referred to were focused around an exchange of views rather than specific commitments. The process bought together leaders of major economies for the first time to discuss the energy security and climate change agenda. Their expression of strong commitment to and support for achieving a global agreement on climate change in 2009 within the UN process has added valuable momentum to the ongoing debate.
