To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many people were prosecuted in each of the last five years for failing to purchase a television licence. (233704)

[holding answer 6 November 2008]: The following data have been provided by the Ministry of Justice and derived from the court proceedings database held by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform. Data are given on the basis that these offences were the principal offence for which the persons were dealt with. Data for 2007 will be available at the end of November 2008.
