Departmental Responsibilities

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families if he will place in the Library a list of the roles no longer in existence in (a) his Department and (b) its bodies as a result of the Gershon review. (240604)

The Department was created on 28 June 2007. A list of senior managers, managers and administrative staff who are no longer employed in the Department has been placed in the House of Commons Library. We cannot confirm whether all of these staff have left as a result of the Gershon review as the information is not collected in the form requested and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

The non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) for which the Department is responsible have their own staffing arrangements. Information is not held centrally on roles no longer in existence and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. The Department publishes a Public Bodies Report each year which includes the number of staff in each NDPB as at 31 March. The Public Bodies 2008 report is at:
