To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether British citizens with an entry on the National Identity Register will be required to inform the Home Office when they have a child. (241604)

It is a legal requirement for all births in the United Kingdom to be registered. However, the fact that an individual has had a child is not a registrable fact under the Identity Cards Act 2006 and so would not be included with that person’s entry on the National Identity Register.
