To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what steps his Department plans to take to promote renewable energy in (a) the UK, (b) the North East, (c) Tees Valley district and (d) Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland constituency. (242370)

The Government published in the summer a consultation document (UK Renewable Energy Strategy) setting out the wide range of policies already in place to promote renewable energy in the UK, and seeking views on potential further measures in the light of our longer term renewable ambitions. We will publish our final renewable energy strategy in spring next year, detailing an action plan for promoting further renewable deployment throughout the UK.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what proportion of UK electricity supply came from renewable sources in each year since 1990. (242479)
