To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change on how many occasions the system frequency of the UK electricity system has been outside the limits specified in the Electricity Supply Regulations in each of the last 10 years. (242501)

The system frequency of the UK electricity system has been outside the limits specified in the electricity supply regulations twice in the last 10 year—on 27 May 2008 for nine minutes and on 26 May 2003 for 12 seconds.

Prior to May 2008, the previous reportable frequency deviation was in February 1996, which was for three minutes.
