Departmental Energy

Volume 486: debated on Tuesday 13 January 2009

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps his Department is taking to reduce the amount of energy it wastes. (244603)

The Treasury is committed to improving energy efficiency of the Department's estate and reducing energy use year on year. Measures taken over the last year that have led to improvements in energy efficiency include adjustment of lighting system controls, switching to daytime cleaning, reducing the need for lighting after hours, and adjusting the temperature when heating is turned on.

Detailed information on the Treasury energy consumption by building can be found in HM Treasury annual report 2007-08.
