To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information his Department holds on the (a) sex, (b) ethnicity, (c) age, (d) disability, (e) sexual orientation and (f) religion or belief of its staff; and what assessment he has made of his Department’s performance against its targets relating to diversity in its workforce. The Treasury holds the following information on the (a) sex, (b) ethnicity, (c) age, (d) disability of its employees:

staff in post

applicants for employment, training and promotion

results of performance assessment procedures

grievance procedures disciplinary procedures

staff who cease employment

In September 2007 the Treasury began collecting diversity-monitoring data on sexual orientation and the religion or belief of employees.

The Treasury reports, to the Cabinet Office, on the Department’s performance against its targets relating to diversity in its work force 2005-08 and has set new diversity targets for 2009-11.
