Welfare Tax Credits

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many families claiming tax credits in 2006-07 experienced an income increase of between (a) £2,500 and £5,000, (b) £5,001 and £7,500, (c) £7,501 and £10,000, (d) £10,001 and £15,000 and (e) £15,001 and £25,000. (249193)

The following table shows the average number of families who were claiming tax credits in 2006-07, split by income rise in each specified band.

The income rise has been derived from the 2005-06 and 2006-07 incomes which were used to finalise the awards.
