Mid-Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust: Crimes of Violence

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many (a) doctors, (b) nurses, (c) consultants and (d) auxiliary staff have been victims of violence in (i) accident and emergency areas in Broomfield Hospital and (ii) all hospitals in the Mid-Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust area in each of the last five years. Since 2004-05, the number of physical assaults against staff reported by NHS bodies has been collected annually by the National Health Service Security Management Service. This information is contained in tables showing the number of physical assaults on NHS staff reported in England for each of the years 2004-05 to 2007-08. These tables have already been placed in the Library.
