To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate she has made of the number of people selling sex in each of the last five years. (248035)

The Home Office consultation Paying the Price: a consultation paper on prostitution, published in July 2004 stated that:

“it has been estimated that there could be as many as 80,000 people involved in prostitution in the UK.”
