Prostitution: Crimes of Violence

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many convictions there were for violent offences in cases where the victim worked as a prostitute in (a) 2005, (b) 2006, (c) 2007 and (d) 2008. (247525)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what schemes and services there are with the objective of increasing the number of convictions of those who have committed violence towards a person working as a prostitute. (247530)

As part of the Government's Co-ordinated Prostitution Strategy the Ugly Mugs scheme which enables those involved in prostitution to share information on dangerous clients, has been expanded through the existing Crimestoppers helpline that allows crime to be reported anonymously.
