To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what the GCSE and equivalent results were for pupils attending (a) maintained and (b) all schools at the end of key stage 4 in each local authority in each of the last five years. (248864)

The GCSE and equivalent results for pupils attending maintained schools at the end of key stage 4 in each local authority area are shown in the following Statistical First Releases. Figures for part (b) are not published.

To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what proportion of pupils achieved five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C including English, mathematics, science and a modern foreign language in (a) 2007 and (b) 2008. (251084)

The proportion of pupils at the end of key stage 4 achieving five or more GCSEs and equivalents at grades A* to C including English, mathematics, science and a modern foreign language was 24.1 per cent. in 2007 and 23.7 per cent. in 2008.
