Homelessness: Hampshire

Volume 487: debated on Wednesday 28 January 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many homelessness applications were made in (a) Test Valley borough, (b) the ceremonial county of Hampshire and (c) Southampton city in each of the last three years. (251095)

Information about local authorities’ actions under homelessness legislation is collected by the Department. Authorities provide data on the number of applications for housing assistance (including those by ineligible households), as well as the number of households who are accepted by local authorities as eligible for assistance, unintentionally homeless and in priority need, and therefore owed a main homelessness duty.

Figures are collected at local authority level. The following table shows the number of applicants who have applied for housing assistance in each local authority within the ceremonial county of Hampshire (which includes Test Valley borough and Southampton city council).
