Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency

Volume 487: debated on Tuesday 3 February 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency has a statutory duty to issue an acknowledgement letter following receipt of a statutory off road notification or notice of a change of owner; and if he will make a statement. (253563)

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is under no statutory obligation to issue acknowledgement letters. However, the DVLA is committed to sending all customers an acknowledgement letter. Upon receipt of a statutory off road notification (SORN) or disposal notification, an acknowledgement is automatically generated and sent to the keeper of the vehicle.
