Domestic Waste

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs whether he has set targets for the reduction of household waste through home composting. (252327)

Local authorities in England no longer have centrally imposed statutory targets on recycling and composting. This is consistent with Government policy to give local areas more freedom and flexibility on how they deliver national objectives.

However 85 per cent. of local authorities have chosen at least one of the three waste reduction indicators as a local priority for the new local government performance framework.
