Disabled: Children

Volume 488: debated on Monday 23 February 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions if he will bring forward proposals to increase the financial support for mentally and physically disabled children given up for adoption by their parents. (254901)

We keep the level of all benefits constantly under review. In addition, in the White Paper “Raising Expectations and Increasing Support: Reforming Welfare for the Future” we accepted that there is a need to look closely at the challenges that the current system of benefits presents to carers. We remain committed to looking at carers' benefits in the context of our wider ambitions for the welfare state and to ensuring that the needs of carers are central to the future reform of the benefit system.
