Detention Centres: Visits

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many visitors each immigration removal centre has received in each of the previous 12 months. (256439)

All those detained in a UK Border Agency Immigration Removal Centres may receive visits as they wish from family, friends and other associates. They may also receive visits from legal advisers and representatives, from ministers of religion, and from members of the Independent Monitoring Board (1MB) appointed to each centre. Records of the numbers of visitors to each removal centre are not held, either locally at the individual centres or centrally. Home Office policy is not to hold databases that are unnecessary.
