Homelessness: Hampshire

Volume 488: debated on Wednesday 25 February 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many applications for housing assistance under homelessness legislation were made in (a) Winchester and (b) Hampshire in each of the last five years. (258225)

Information about local housing authorities’ actions under homelessness legislation is collected by the Department. Authorities provide data on the number of applications for housing assistance (including those by ineligible households), as well as the number of households who are accepted by local authorities as eligible for assistance, unintentionally homeless and in priority need, and therefore owed a main homelessness duty.

Figures are collected at local authority level. The following table shows the number of applicants who have applied for housing assistance in each local authority within the county of Hampshire (which includes Winchester).
