Departmental Marketing

Volume 488: debated on Wednesday 25 February 2009

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how much has been spent by his Department on advertising in the last 12 months. (243715)

Since Ministry of Justice was created in May 2007 and to end March 2008 the total figure for spend on advertising was £6.3 million. Figures are available only on a full financial year basis and it is not possible to provide accurate data for December 2007 to December 2008.

A breakdown of these figures is given in the answer to the right hon. Member for Devizes (Mr. Ancram) on 26 November 2008, Official Report, column 1671W. Approximately £6 million of the total £6.3 million was spent on recruitment advertising, principally by Her Majesty's Prison Service.
